Puppy Training
House training, socialization, getting used to being alone, and guiding biting and chewing: a solid foundation for puppyhood.
Puppyhood is when a dog’s adult behavior takes shape. What is learned in these months settles quickly, for wanted and unwanted habits alike. That is why puppy training is not for fixing problems after they appear, but for building a solid foundation from the start. We run the training together with the owner: while the puppy learns, you learn how to communicate with them.
What do we work on in puppy training?
- House training: a regular routine and good timing help the puppy form toilet habits at home.
- Socialization: the puppy meets different people, dogs, sounds and environments in a controlled way.
- Getting used to being alone: we work step by step so the dog can stay calm when the owner is out.
- Biting and chewing: these behaviors are guided before they turn into lasting habits.
- Crate training: when it is appropriate, to help the dog get used to a safe space of its own.
- Daily program and exercise: the trainer sets up the daily routine and an exercise plan that suits the puppy.
- Feeding and care routine: we give general guidance; please ask your veterinarian about feeding and health decisions.
Before problems grow
If you notice unnecessary barking, biting or tension, do not wait: guiding a puppy early is much easier than changing a settled habit. Our trainers build a plan around the puppy’s age and character.
What age, and how do we start?
We recommend starting once the puppy is home, at around 2–3 months of age. The place and duration of the program can vary with the puppy’s age, breed and where you live; please get in touch for details. For the broader picture see Dog Training, for our program for 2–5 month old puppies see Puppy Training Program, and for the right time to begin see Getting Started with Training.
